Did Amitabh Bachchan Lend a Hand to Carry His Help’s Body?

CLAIM

A viral image on social media claims that Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, along with son Abhishek Bachchan, was seen carrying his domestic help’s body who allegedly passed away Wednesday, 27 June.

The claim, along with an image, says that the Bachchan’s domestic help had been working with the family for past 40 years.

Several social media users have shared the image on Twitter and Facebook with a similar narrative.

TRUE OR FALSE?

The claim being shared with the viral image is false. Amitabh Bachchan posted the image of him and Abhishek lending a hand to carry someone’s body on his blog on 8 June. He mentioned here that the body was of Sheetal Jain, his secretary and manager.

WHAT WE FOUND OUT

We reverse-searched the image on Yandex and it led us to several posts that suggested that the Bollywood actor was carrying Sheetal Jain’s body.

Yandex led us to post that mentioned that Amitabh Bachchan was carrying the body of his secretary.

Amitabh Bachchan posted the viral image on his personal blog and stated that his manager and secretary passed away on 8 June, who was associated with the actor for the past 40 years. The Quint had earlier reported about Sheetal’s death.

MEDIA OUTLETS GOT IT WRONG

Media organisations such as The Economic Times and Times Now reported the same false narrative as that of the viral post on social media.
