A video showing a man hitting a woman inside their house is going viral to claim that he is a Muslim man attacking a Hindu woman.

What's the truth?: According to Hapur police, this claim carries a false communal angle.

How did we find out the truth?: We found a reply on one of the claims which stated that this video shows a Muslim couple and is from Hapur.

• The reply also carried a post from Hapur police.

• It stated in Hindi, "Please do not spread misleading news, the man beating the woman is her husband (both husband and wife are Muslim), the viral video is about one and a half months old, in connection with which a case has been registered under relevant sections at Hapur Nagar police station, evidence collection has been completed, and the charge sheet has been submitted to the honorable court."

• Hapur police also shared a post about the claim and dismissed the communal claim.

• They stated that both of them are Muslim.
