A video of a bus crossing a narrow path during a landslide is being circulated on social media platforms with a claim that it shows a recent incident from Himachal Pradesh's Chamba.
What is the truth?: The video actually dates back to May 2024 and shows a truck narrowly escaping a landslide in Indonesia's Padang City. It has no connection with Himachal Pradesh.
How did we find that out?: Team WebQoof performed a simple Google Lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip and found similar visuals posted on a YouTube channel called '@weathernetwork'.
It was uploaded on 20 May 2024 with a title that said, "Truck escapes #landslide after prolonged heavy #rainfall in #Indonesia."
Other sources: Next, we found a news report published by KompasTV that said a truck nearly escaped a landslide while travelling in Padang City, West Sumatra in Indonesia.
The route was closed for more than hours due to the landslide.
The official YouTube channel of tvOneNews published similar visuals on 17 May 2024 with a title when translated to English said, "Horrifying! This is the Moment a Truck Nearly Was Buried in a Landslide in Padang | AKIM tvOne."
Conclusion: It is evident that the viral video is old and unrelated to Himachal Pradesh.
