Scripted Video Shared as Real Incident of Biker Beating an Elderly Muslim Man

A video is being circulated on social media platforms with a claim that it shows a recent incident of a bike rider physically assaulting an elderly Muslim man and breaking the latter's tricycle.

What are users saying?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium subscriber shared the clip with a caption that said, "A bike rider is beating a elder Muslim handicapped & breaking his Rickshaw by kicking it. (sic)"

The post had recorded over 2.6 lakh views on the platform. You can find archives of similar such posts here, here, and here.

What's the truth?: The video is scripted and was originally uploaded on 24 January on a YouTube channel named 'Muklesur Bhaijaan'.

  • We found that the channel regularly posts such clips, which also featured the elderly man seen in the viral video.

How did we find that out?: On performing a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip, we found the same visuals uploaded on a YouTube channel called 'Muklesur Bhaijaan'.

  • It was posted on 24 January and its title loosely translated to, "Uncle short video | bike rider helped me | muklesur Bhaijaan."

Team WebQoof went through the channel and found the longer version of the viral clip posted on 24 January.

  • Its description when translated to English said, "Random Rider Challenged Me & He Crushed! || He hit the vehicle| bike rider helped me | helping motovlog."

About the YouTube channel: In the 'about' section, the YouTuber said that the channel was first opened in 2018 and mentioned that it uploaded blogs, scripted videos, and more.

  • We have reached out to the user for more details about the video and this report will be updated as and when a response is received.
