Altered Video Revived as In-Flight Announcement Being Made in Sanskrit

The video has been dubbed in Sanskrit. We reached out to the creator, who confirmed the viral claim was false.

A video of a flight attendant delivering the safety briefing to the passengers is going viral on the internet as the first-ever announcement made in the Sanskrit language at the Varanasi airport.

What do viral posts say?: Identifying the airlines as 'Akasa Air', people have shared the clip with a caption that said, "First flight announcement in Sanskrit in Varanasi Airport. Great. Remembering our ancient great language. Be proud to be an Indian."

What's the truth?: The video is old and was actually dubbed in Sanskrit.

• The airline had also clarified at that time and said that their inflight announcements were made only in Hindi and English.

How did we find that out?: On closely checking the video, we found a watermark of an Instagram handle that said "@SANSKRITSPARROW.

• We searched for the username on Instagram and came across the same video that was published on 6 June.

• Its caption said, "The above content is a dubbed voice over. This was not announced at any flight. This does not have anything to do with @akasaair management."

What did the creator say?: Team WebQoof had spoken to Samashti Gubbi, who ran the account, to find the truth behind the viral clip.

• She had clarified that the viral claim is incorrect.

• Gubbi further said, "The original video was recorded by me. The reel is a dubbed voice over in Sanskrit by me. It is not a collaboration with Akasa Air."

• Replying to a user (post now deleted) on X, the Akasa Air's official handle said that it was not an authentic video.

• The airlines said that their inflight announcements are delivered in Hindi and English only.
