A video of the Inter Services Public Relations - Director General of Pakistan, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, speaking on a podium, has gone viral on social media platforms.

What did he say?:

"Thank you for being with us today. Following the developments of Operation Sindoor, we find it important to offer transparency and reaffirm our enduring commitment to regional stability. The operation saw intense engagement along the Eastern Corridor. We regret to confirm that two JF-17 aircraft were lost during active duty. Yeh nuksan humare liye sirf numbers nahi, ek jazbaati dhakka hai. We also suffered damage to civilian infrastructure and casualties among our brave service members. Shaheedon ke gharwalon ke liye humari duayen hai.

He goes on to add: "Their sacrifice will always be honoured. In the Pahalgam Axis, significant tactical shifts were observed. The situation is still developing, and we are monitoring it closely. Strategic consequences saamne aa rahe hain, and we are prepared to respond accordingly. Let me say this clearly. Pakistan does not believe in war. Humne har dafa sabr se kaam liya hai, despite serious provocations. Our aim has never been escalation, but stability and peace. Sovereignty ka tahafuz (security) humari zimmedaari hai, but so is our role in ensuring a peaceful future for the region. We urge our counterparts, choose dialogue over aggression. Jang ka bojh sirf sipahi nahi uthata, har ghar uthata hai. Pakistan stands for regional peace, mutual dignity and the principles of international conduct. Aman ka raasta mushkil zarur hai, lekin zarur."

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false as this video is manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

What we found: At first, we noticed that the lip movement and the words were not matching with one another which hinted that the video could be AI-generated.

  • Additionally, there were no reports of Pakistan confirming such an incident in an official capacity.

  • We, then, ran the video on AI-detection website such as Hive Moderation and found that the audio was generated using AI.

Here are the results by Hive Moderation.

  • We, then, we used a virtual private network to look for the origin of this video.

  • Following this, we divided the video into multiple screenshots and ran a Google reverse image search.

  • Team WebQoof found a video on YouTube on Pakistan's official ISPR channel. It showed DG Chaudhry's press conference from 8 May.

  • The frames of both the videos matched with one another.

Here is a comparison between the two.

About the press conference: In the press conference, the DG ISPR spoke about Operation Sindoor conducted by the Indian armed forces on the night of 7-8 May, targeting multiple cities in Pakistan.

  • Speaking on the attack and casualties, he added that the Pakistani forces neutralised twelve drones, but one struck a military target near Lahore, injuring four soldiers and another drone attack in Miano, Sindh, killed one civilian and injured another.

  • The briefing condemned India’s actions as reckless aggression and warned of regional instability, while affirming Pakistan’s readiness to respond.

Conclusion: This video is manipulated using AI and is not real, as claimed.
