A fake 'advisory notice' urging citizens to stock up on essentials and keep ₹50,000 in cash due to rising India-Pakistan tensions is going viral as real.

An image is going viral online to claim that the central government has issued an 'advisory notice' amid the tensions brewing between India and Pakistan.

  • The list instructs people to keep at least ₹50,000 in cash, fully fueled vehicle, medicines for two months, food, water, torches, power banks, and also an emergency bag with clothes and blankets.

  • This is going viral following Operation Sindoor.

What's the truth?: This is a fake notice and is being falsely linked to Operation Sindoor.

How did we find out the truth?: We performed a relevant keyword search on Google which did not bring up any credible news that carried this notice.

  • We also checked websites of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defence but did not find this notice.

  • We then came across a post shared by Press Information Bureau (PIB) on X (formerly Twitter) on 6 May 2025 which clarified that this notice is fake.

  • "The government has not issued any such advisory," it read.
