A video of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan promoting an investment platform and accusing the government of hiding it from the common public is going viral on the internet as a real one.
What else did it show?: The clip further showed Prime Minister Narendra Modi purportedly saying that the platform is reliable and has made substantial profits for thousands of Indians.
Is this clip real?: No, the video has been manipulated using the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. The original video of Khan dates back to October 2024 and shows him talking about his career at the Locarno Film Festival.
Hints in the viral clip: We noticed what appeared to be a sticker placed on the microphone that said "Locarno Film Festival".

On searching for the Locarno Film Festival on YouTube, we found an unverified channel with the same name.
We found the full version of Khan's interview which was shared on 16 October 2024. It was titled, "Shah Rukh Khan: The King of Bollywood."
It showed the actor talking about his career and films like Devdas, Jawan, and more. We did not find Khan mentioning any investment platform or accusing the government of hiding it.
What did detection tools show?: Team WebQoof noticed that the lip movements did not match with the words heard in the video. Additionally, the accents of all the people seen in the viral clip seemed different.
We checked the video on an AI detection tool named 'Hive Moderation', which showed around 99 percent probability of the audio being AI-generated.

About PM Modi's clip: On going through the official YouTube channel of PM Modi, we found a video that showed him wearing the same outfit as seen in the viral clip.
It was shared on 13 May with a title that said, "If there is to be talk with Pakistan, it will be about PoK & terrorism: PM."
PM Modi highlighted the importance of unity and advocated for zero tolerance against terrorism.
Conclusion: The video has been manipulated to make it appear like Khan was promoting an investment platform.
