A video of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Avadh Ojha is going viral to claim that it shows him calling former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia a "coward" for not contesting on the Patparganj seat in the upcoming state elections.
Who shared it?: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT department head Amit Malviya shared the post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle taking a dig at Sisodia.
What are the facts?: The viral clip has been manipulated to make it appear like Ojha called Sisodia a "coward". The original interview showed Ojha making the statement about his decision to contest the elections.
What led us to the truth?: Since we could see the mic of NDTV in the viral clip, we performed a keyword search on YouTube using the words "avadh ojha ndtv interview".
This directed us to the full version of Ojha's with a journalist named Rajeev Ranjan associated with the media organisation.
It was published on 8 January with a title that loosely translated to, "Delhi Election: Special conversation with Awadh Ojha who is contesting from Patparganj | AAP."
At around the 0:47 timestamp, Ranjan could be heard asking, "You joined the party [AAP] and now are directly contesting elections."
To this, Ojha responds with a recitation in Hindi that translated to, "Those who have not seen war in their lives, they must be very unfortunate, they must have either broken their vows or fled from the battle fields."
After Ojha was asked about the decision to contest from the Patparganj seat, he accepted that it was his call as he is a resident of that area.
At around the 1:49 mark, Ranjan said, "Patparganj has been a high-profile seat. Manish Sisodia has been the Deputy CM there and has won three consecutive times. However, he left the seat this time"
Conclusion: The viral clip of AAP leader Avadh Ojha has been manipulated to mislead the viewers.
