The Asansol Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday removed the hoardings exhibiting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his policies at different petrol pumps across the city. The local governing body maintains that the action is being initiated in accordance with the procedure and is not related to the TMC rage against the BJP.

According to the AMC, which is under the TMC rule, notices were served to petrol pumps to pay tax for hoardings of PM Modi. Notices were issued to 40 petrol pumps under the corporation a fortnight ago, said AMC officials.

He’ll be produced in court after 12 pm (on Wednesday) and will seek bail for him. He has some health-related issues and we will produce medical documents for the same. Allegations against him are totally baseless and is a political vendetta. As far as Mr Bandyopadhyay is concerned, there’s no evidence.

"I am shocked, but not scared. Let him arrest all of us. I openly challenge him to arrest me. Let me see his guts. He may silence others, but not me. He can't suppress our voice. He can't bulldoze people's voice," Banerjee said, "We will fight legal battle in every case."

Several senior TMC MLAs and MPs, including Saugata Roy, Dinesh Trivedi and Partha Chatterjee, arrived at the CBI office in Kolkata on Tuesday evening.
