A gang rape survivor in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district has allegedly been barred by the principal of her school from attending classes, reports The Indian Express. The district magistrate has ordered a probe into the school’s decision.

The girl was abducted by two men in an SUV on her way to the school on Thursday. An FIR was registered three days later. Police on Monday arrested two men for the sexual assault.

Meanwhile, the school principal denied the allegations and claimed he only wanted the girl to stay home for a few days until the matter is resolved.

He also claimed that he was just running a private coaching centre with minimal infrastructure and did not have state government recognition to run a school.

Asked about the probe, SDM Priyanka had earlier said that the principal had also failed to provide an attendance register, reported the Express.

“I will visit the school on Tuesday. We have given the principal an ultimatum to produce the register and all relevant documents. The claim that it is just a coaching centre and not a school is part of the investigation,” she said.

Police on Tuesday said,’’FIR has been registered and the 2 accused have been arrested in the case. The girl’s name has not been struck off from school, these were all rumours,’’ reported ANI.
