1. Dhinakaran Vows to Go After ‘Traitors’
Claiming that the AIADMK was with him, sidelined party deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran said on Wednesday that he would go after the traitors of the party.
When asked for his comments on the allegation that the BJP was behind the confusion in AIADMK, Dhinakaran said he cannot blame others when some of his own party men were going against the wishes of the party’s leadership. “The party is with us...traitors will be sent home. We will be after the traitors,” Dhinakaran said.

2. Carry Original License Or Face Police Action
Tamil Nadu traffic police plan to prosecute motorists who do not carry their original driving licenses from Friday, when the rule is likely to be implemented effectively.
The city police had already conducted awareness campaigns on the subject by distributing pamphlets to motorists at several junctions.

3. HC Slams DMK For Filing Case With Contradictory Averments
The Madras High Court on Wednesday slammed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), represented by its Legal Wing secretary R Girirajan, for filing a case with contradictory averments and observed with discontentment that the party had attempted to convert the court into a political platform through its actions.
Justice MS Ramesh made the observations while dismissing a writ petition filed against an order passed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police in Salem denying permission for the party to hold a human chain protest against making medical college admissions on the basis of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test scores.

4. Police Suspect Realtor Killed Children With Insulin Shots
Police suspect that the two children who were found dead in an apartment in Virugambakkam on Monday might have been injected with insulin by their father, a realtor. The cause of death, however, can be confirmed only after the father regains consciousness, police said.
The children, aged eight and six, were found dead in the third floor of their apartment on Arcot Road while their father, M Chandrasekar, was found unconscious. As there was no response to phone calls, his father Mohan Ram, a retired medical practitioner, and a few other family friends rushed to the home and found the door bolted from inside.

5. CM Calls for Meeting of Ministers, MLAs
With sidelined AIADMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran unrelenting in his mission to oust Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, the latter has called for a meeting of Ministers and legislators at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The meeting is likely to throw up strategies that will be adopted to counter the campaign Dhinakaran, sources say. There are indications that apart from MLAs of the pro-Dhinakaran camp, a few other legislators who have not pledged their support openly for Palaniswami have not been invited for the meeting.

6. HC Advances Hearing in Gutkha Case
The Madras High Court on Wednesday agreed for an early hearing of a case filed by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLA J Anbazhagan seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the gutkha scam.
The First Division Bench of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar agreed to take up the case for hearing on Monday though it would have come up for hearing in the regular course only on 8 September.

7. Satyarthi to Campaign Against Child Sex Abuse
Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi will undertake a Bharat Yatra from Kanyakumari to New Delhi to fight child sexual abuse and trafficking. He will begin on 11 September from Kanyakumari, arrive in Chennai and end in New Delhi on 16 September.
Abdul Ghani, member of the State Bharat Yatra Committee, said the idea of this journey is to fight for their rights. “He will not only meet the victims and their family members but also members from the judiciary and politics too,” he added.
