Not a Day of Joy Since Aarushi Died: Nupur Talwar in an Interview

On Thursday, the Allahabad High Court acquitted Nupur and Rajesh Talwar in the double murder case of their daughter Aarushi, and help Hemraj, ending a nine-year long ordeal that began when Aarushi was murdered in her home in May 2008.
In an interview with Tinka Tinka, a prison reform initiative started by activist Vartika Nanda, Nupur Talwar speaks of life in jail, getting the acceptance in confinement that she and her husband didn’t get outside, and trying to move on from the horrific murder of their daughter.
Talwar also recites some of her poetry, one in particular titled ‘Aarushi’.
After Aarushi’s murder, the needle of suspicion had initially moved towards 45- year-old Hemraj, who was believed to be missing. But two days later, his body was recovered from the terrace of the house.
In 2013, a CBI Special Court in Ghaziabad convicted the Talwars. Four years later, the Allahabad High Court reversed the judgement, arguing that the Talwars can’t be convicted based on mere suspicion, and that they should be given the benefit of doubt.
