The Congress party on Sunday, 10 October, sought an appointment with President Ram Nath Kovind for a 7-member party delegation led by Rahul Gandhi to present a "memorandum of facts," in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

Meanwhile, following a rap by the Supreme Court, Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Misra's son Ashish Misra, alias Monu Bhaiya, the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri case, has been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the UP Police. He is accused of mowing down protesting farmers with his car in the district, killing four of them.

Killing of BJP Workers 'Reaction to an Action': Tikait's Stunning Comment

In a controversial statement, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said that the killing of the two BJP workers in Lakhimpur was a "reaction to an action."

Speaking to NDTV, he said, "The killing of two BJP workers in Lakhimpur Kheri after a convoy of cars ran over four farmers is a reaction to an action. I do not consider those involved in the killings as guilty (of a crime)."
