The Game of Thrones franchise is about to end and emotions are running high across the world. Over the course of its eight seasons, every character had developed a healthy relationship with the audience. The thought of it all coming to an end is giving withdrawal symptoms to all.

The makers of the series, as a result are releasing a behind-the-scenes Game of Thrones documentary on 26 May to relive the moments that they are going to cherish for the rest of their lives.

HBO has released a trailer for Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, a documentary that follows the cast and production crew throughout the making of the final season. Directed by Jeanie Finlay, the film is scheduled to premiere one week after the series' conclusion.

“It delves deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland. It is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world—and then have to say goodbye to it.”

According to Complex.com, acclaimed British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay was embedded on the set of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, chronicling the creation of the show’s most ambitious and complicated season.

Much more than a “making of” documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world — and then have to say goodbye to it.

We see Jon Snow getting teary while doing the last few readings for the show. We also see Emilia Clark aka Daenerys’ last day on Game of Thrones’ set.

The documentary is scheduled to air on 26 May and we can’t wait to watch all the behind-the-scenes excitement. At least there is something to look forward to after the final season ends!
