Twitterverse Unites In Search For A Dress For Child with Autism
Search for a dress unites twitter for a good cause.
The state of the world today isn't very reassuring to those who consume a barrage of negativity online. It is in times like these that stories of kindness and generosity really restore faith in humanity and here’s looking at this recent Twitter incident as an example.
On July 6th we saw Twitter abuzz after user Deborah Price, tweeted to start an internet wide search for a grey dress with a rainbow heart on it. The dress was for a friend’s daughter who was suffering from autism.
The Twitter community came forward to help out the little girl and what followed was a flurry of tweets unleashed by the Twitterverse with leads on the dress and offers to even create replicas.
Tweeple were looking for the dress on Ebay, some offering to even re-make it, all for the little girl, named Elise.
Price’s friend, Kate Bell who is young Elise’s mother also joined in on the conversation. She was awed by the love and support the community extended and thanked them in helping to get her daughter a new dress.
Next Official, the company responsible for manufacturing the dress, also tweeted out their support and offered to contact their suppliers in a bid to try and produce the same dress.
People from the community applauded her for this initiative. Few parents even spoke about their personal experience with parenting kids suffering from autism.
Not long after, Price tweeted “Stop the Clock” as “A girl called Mila found her age 12 dress which will be perfect." She went on to explain that Mila had urged her mom to send her dress to little Elise.
This heart warming story reminds us the power of social media and how small acts of kindness and generosity can create multiple ripples!
