India claims to be a large, tolerant democracy. And of late, we have only been large!

This year we’ve been offended at the slightest provocation, or even at the lack of it. From films like Lipstick Under My Burkha, to a fictional 14th century queen aka Padmavati, to OMG whatever Priyanka Chopra was wearing while meeting PM Modi?

While we’re still confused about the general idea of homosexuality, we’re happy being nosy and noisy and quite easily perturbed.

Creating a shameful new low, a Kerala school suspended a boy and a girl because they hugged each other in joy.

Adding coconut flakes to this rava puttu mix, the Kerala High Court saw no problem with it. The learned bench maintained that hugs (HUGS) and handshakes between boys and girls inside school premises was against the school's ‘discipline.’

Sometimes one wonders if the society is full of antsy aunties, or if the society, in it’s entirety, is one big antsy aunty — with it’s skewed morality, insecurities and absolute dearth of logic, and too much interest in what Gupta ji ki beti puts up on Instagram and why she does it.

Give us some space, aunty!
