If I were Deepika, the answer to what I’ll wear for my wedding is pretty simple.

Deepika is a girl from Bangalore. I interviewed her once next to an awe-struck fan with tears rolling down her cheeks. Deepika greeted the fan with genuine love, affection and warmth.

So that makes Deepika a very nice girl from Bangalore, who will wear Ranveer with pride during the festivities pre and post the wedding.

Fashion wise, she will wear a Sabyasachi sari and lehenga. I reckon shades of red and gold would dominate the look. Given her closeness to her folks and her sister, all of them would make a beautiful portrait in Sabyasachi.

When it comes to jewellery, there will be generous use of polki to complete the look.

I see her wearing something from her Mom’s closet for one of the functions, because she gives heirloom precedence. Maybe a Kanjeevaram or a temple sari with a velvet blouse?

Let’s also keep the geography in mind, shall we? The mehendi and wedding will be in Lake Como, Italy, which would be a bit cold.

On the other hand, nothing beats central air-conditioning in Europe. So once the shawls are off, the events would be smooth just like some dry Italian wine.

Now as a spectator:

I have a feeling that her husband-to-be would be more unpredictable. I foresee him wearing something asymmetrical from Shantanu Nikhil’s recent couture collection christened ‘Independence’.

He might wear Sabya on the wedding day to complete the look. Lastly, on one of the evenings, I see him wearing Gucci.

How about Ranveer donning the Elton John Gucci outfit? 

I would really like to see him in a bright velvet or floral printed trouser. What I am hoping for is that he wows in a dhoti as a mark of respect for his in-law’s Bengaluru roots.

I will also take this moment to address the paps.

The pictures for Virat and Anushkha’s wedding lacked local flavour -- they could have married in a Delhi farm-house or a fancy Alibaug residence instead.

So this time, how about the leaked photos have a view of the quaint towns dotting the perimeter of the wishbone-shaped lake or a bit of the emerald green water that is framed by the snow-capped Italian Alps?

Sorry for the enthusiasm and intrusion, but viewing your wedding pictures on Instagram is the closest some of us will get to visiting Italy, or even Europe, for that matter!
