Truer words have not been spoken. The art of photography has evolved and progressed to great heights – especially in the past couple of decades – but are you aware of its history?
World Photography Day originates from the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic process developed by Louis Daguerre. On January 9, 1839, The French Academy of Sciences announced the daguerreotype process. A few months later, on August 19, 1839, the French government announced the invention as a gift “Free to the World.”
It came as little surprise to an already-photography-obsessed world when Instagram, launched in 2010, became an instant hit. The app enabled one to share pictures of everything from their meals to vain selfies. It also encouraged a whole new breed of photographers to emerge and existing ones to discover a whole new platform to showcase their body of work – all to connect with a larger audience.
