Consent /kənˈsɛnt/: permission for something to happen or agreement to do something.

Though the meaning of the word ‘consent’ is quite simple, some people still find it difficult to wrap their heads around it. Understanding that no means no shouldn’t be so hard, should it?

In an effort to emphasise the importance of consent, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday shared a clip on Twitter to send out the message that ‘A No Means No’.

Sharing a small clip from Tinder India’s promotional video, where the dating app states, “It’s a match only when both swipe right,” UP Police said, “Even an app understands the importance of consent, why can’t you?”

Netizens were up for the move and UP Police’s tweet was applauded by many on Twitter.
