Twitter trends range from the socially compelling to the newsy to the bizarre to the light-hearted. On many occasions this social media platform has allowed us to kick off a campaign for causes we believe in, create public opinion or just have a good laugh. Just to cite as example, this week’s Twitter trends ranged from #Tamasha to #LifeWithoutElectricity.

But the trend of the day is quite literary. #SixWordsStory – a contest driven by Rajnigandha – has been trending on Twitter.

For those of you who think the format of a story in six words is a product of our hectic times, you are in for a surprise. The first ever six-words story was written by Ernest Hemingway, way back in 1920.

Here is a compilation of the ten best tweets on this hashtag.
