Twitter erupted with joy when the Indian hockey team on Sunday evening beat Malaysia 2-1 to win their third hockey Asia Cup title. Led by Manpreet Singh, India has won their first Asia Cup in ten years.

Minister of State for Sports, Rajyavardhan Rathore, praised the team for their victory and hoped for similar results in the future. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and AICC General Secretary also congratulated the team.

Virender Sehwag, Robin Uthappa, and PR Sreejesh were among the first sportspersons to convey their best wishes to the team.

Malaysians have never won the Asia Cup, while India were champions in 2003 and 2007.
