On Wednesday morning, acclaimed British journalist and television personality Piers Morgan tweeted out what was perhaps his own undoing. Or at least that’s what it seemed up until a few hours back.

After an immense backlash from the Indian Twitterati, Morgan decided to hit back with equal fervour, so much so that it became increasingly difficult to keep track of the scores after a certain point.

Morgan, a celebrity anchor,is known for his cheeky manner of tweeting. He also happens to be a cricket enthusiast. In a rather acidic remark this morning, his tweet lashed out at India’s performance at the Rio Olympics. This is what he had to say:

This was it. The trigger.

All hell broke loose and it seems like we made use of all the tricks (for quick come-backs) saas-bahu  shows have unleashed on us as unsuspecting kids.

Morgan was flooded with reactions and before we give anything away, do have a look at what followed.

The Trolls Have A Field Day

Suhel Seth Steps Into the Fray

Ironically, Suhel Seth of all people, steps in at this point. The man known for putting his foot in his mouth 365 days a year. Anyhow, at least he stood up for us.

On being told that Seth will never be lucky enough to get interviewed by Morgan because he only interviews famous people, this is what Seth had to say.

However,Morgan Resurfaces With Renewed Vigour

Even Shane Warne wasn’t spared a comeback when he decided to stick up for us.

And then he starts trending on Twitter:

When he gets told that maybe he’s doing all this to bag a Bollywood role:

Below is how he replied to Chetan Bhagat’s tweet saying we honour our achievers and that the circumstances under which they have made it this far is an achievement. Chetan had also misspelled Morgan’s name.

When a user pointed out that it is a pity that Great Britain’s athletes are celebrated with just a handshake with the Queen, Mr Morgan hits back, yet again.

Well, now that you’ve got the drift, we’ll leave you guys to come up with the final verdict.
