The secrecy surrounding Area 51, a highly classified facility of the United States Air Force, has intrigued people for generations. As a result, it has given rise to a range of pop-culture products, ranging from TV series to literature to documentaries.

Most recently, Area 51 garnered a whole lot of buzz on social media. But what started out as a joke has now become an issue of concern for the US military.

Generations of conspiracy theorists and amateur investigators have claimed that the government keeps extra-terrestrial beings (ETs), their technology and remains of crashed unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in Area 51. And now, people are making plans on social media to ‘storm’ this highly classified facility.

More than a million Facebook users have signed up for an event “Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us” scheduled for Friday, 20 September 2019.

A Facebook user, Jackson Barnes, posted the entire strategy on the event page..

“If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let’s see them aliens.”
Event Description, making an anime reference

Naruto Run is a direct reference to a Japanese manga series, Naruto, where extending the arms backwards while running helps the ninjas run faster.

The absurdity of this bizarre situation has inspired a whole range of memes all over the Internet
