Scientists released the first-ever image of a black hole on Wednesday evening, and the internet – naturally – couldn’t keep calm. The image reveals the black hole at the centre of Messier 87, a massive galaxy in the Virgo galaxy cluster. It also resides 55 million light years away from Earth and has a mass 6.5-billion times that of the Sun, according to NSF.
Anyhow, from being called a “monster’’ to “the one that will consume us all,’’ reactions flooded social media – some in awe, others taking this in stride.
