Remember how Patanjali landed itself into trouble with its ‘saundarya’ ad? Labelled as a sexist advertisement, that was, however, not the first and the last time that Patanjali faced backlash due to its advertisements.
Readers have called out this latest Patanjali ad, that appeared in The Hindu yesterday, for being misleading and unnecessarily invoking patriotism.

Although Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has pulled up Patanjali Ayurved for running misleading advertisement campaigns in the past, Patanjali doesn’t seem to have learnt its lesson.

The ad calls all other products 'Chinese' and claims that Patanjali's entire profit goes to charity, unlike the profit of the MNCs that ends up making the economy weak. It also calls purchasing Patanjali’s oil a ‘patriotic duty’.
