The death of iconic Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna on Thursday led to an outpouring of grief, with prominent personalities like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, actors Rajnikanth, Akshay Kumar, Rishi Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt, among many others, sending condolence messages, India Today reported.

Among these condolences messages was a press release allegedly from the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker, which made a glaring error in its first line – naming Rajesh Khanna - another prominent Bollywood actor who died in 2012 – instead of Vinod Khanna.

The picture of the alleged press release was shared on Twitter by a journalist named Man Aman Chhina, who claimed that the Punjab PR department copy pasted the “press release of Rajesh Khanna for Vinod Khanna”. As pointed out by Chhina, while the headline did mention Vinod Khanna, it was in the introduction where the error was made.

70-year-old Vinod Khanna, who was serving as a Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur constituency, passed away at 11:20 am on Thursday owing to bladder cancer.
