Remember Qandeel Baloch? Yes, the Pakistani model that promised a striptease if Pakistan beat India in ICC World T20. The internet sensation is yet again in news and this time for getting a cleric suspended from his post.
According to News18, Mufti Abdul Qavi, the head of the religious wing of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf was removed from Ruet-e-Hilal Committee till further notice after his selfies with the model went viral.
Apparently, Mufti Qavi had invited Qandeel for an iftar party. During the party, Baloch and Mufti Kavi took a few selfies which Baloch later posted on her social media pages.
The selfies didn’t go down well with the government of Pakistan, following which Mufti Qavi was suspended from his official post by Pakistan government until further notice.
Pakistani journalist, Omar Quraishi tweeted the committee’s notification.
In his defence, Mufti Qavi said that Baloch was like a daughter to him and during the meeting, he was trying to bring her to the right path.
Well, the viral selfies may not have panned out as planned for Mufti Qavi, but Qandeel Baloch’s status as social media sensation has only been supplemented by the frenzy.
