Divya Khosla is creating quite a buzz with the release of T Series’ latest music video ‘Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi’. All the minds behind this remake are the SAME as any other remake, so no points for guessing. In Neha Kakkar’s voice, Tanishk Bagchi’s music...this is the rehashed version of one of Falguni Pathak’s most popular tracks. And if you don’t see it, let me break it down for you.

If there were an award for ‘Most Copied Songs’ - Neha Kakkar and Tanishk Bagchi would win hands down. But can I take this moment to point out the ridiculous alterations done to the lyrics?

The backdrop of this song is that it’s set in a dystopian future. It’s 3010 and *something* is happening in 3010 when there’s no one on Earth, apart from WALL-E. And what is WALL-E doing? Watching rehashed music videos on a broken Cybershot camera after an asteroid hit and destroyed everything.

What’s the logic?

Tanu Weds Manu Drinking Scene Hangover

I am not asking for too much if I say they could have thought of a better story sequence for the song. First things first, if you have seen the video, what is she doing at her ex-boyfriend's wedding function? Why did he invite her? Or wait, did she gatecrash? But when I saw it, all I could picture was Kangana Ranaut dancing on ‘Main Ghani Baawari Ho Gayi’. So basically, you couldn’t think of an original song AND you couldn’t think of original picturization either.

Simran X Geet Who Missed the Local Train

Now, this particular copied scene is a hybrid of sorts. You can see it from different perspectives. Towards the end, we see that Sitara (Divya Khosla’s name in the music video) has become a star of sorts and is shooting a scene where she is dressed as Geet from Jab We Met and is seen missing the local train.

It’s true that more people have watched this video than those who watched Love Story 2050, but that doesn’t mean you copy the hairstyle and the look from a film that released over a decade ago. At the cost of sounding extremely mean, someone has clearly done a great job of conning the masses that they are creative. Divya Khosla looks like a long lost space sister to Priyanka Chopra from Love Story 2050.

Well, this ‘Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi’ video says “to be continued...” and I hope these space sisters meet in the sequel. And I also hope Sitara, who will probably be called Star (or something) finds the love of her life on the space version of Tinder.
