To set the record straight (and shut all his critics), here is Arnab Goswami’s message to everybody lampooning, trolling and castigating him over his interview (the first ever, mind you) with Narendra Modi.
From tame and soft-spoken to snarky and sarcastic, Goswami’s verbal journey since last night has been nothing short of exciting.
Lashing out at his critics, Goswami asserted that his interviews have set “new benchmarks of reach, impact and viewership.”
NewsMobile journalist Saurabh Shukla started off by asking Goswami what he has to say about those criticising him over the interview. In response, Goswami expressed his heartfelt (and sarcastic) gratitude to people who spend all their time watching him and his interviews.
He was then asked why he was unusually calm in the interview, to which he said:
Okay, all this is great, but where is the answer to the actual question– why the calm, Mr Goswami?
Seems like we will need another interview to get him to answer that.
His next comment is not only wrong, but also reeks of ignorance.
Um, you are grossly uninformed here, sir.
A few minutes after the preview of Modi’s comments on Subramanian Swamy and Raghuram Rajan was released, every leading media organization picked up the “news point” he spoke so highly of.
Lastly, Goswami evading an important question does not suit his style, stature or reputation. We all know what happens to panelists who evade his questions, on his show.
When he was questioned on whether there were any “no-no” questions with respect to Modi, Goswami conveniently chose not to answer and went on talking about the impact his interviews have had.
Tsk tsk, Mr Goswami, this isn’t what we expected.
