Mumbai has come to a standstill as heavy downpour has affected the day-to-day life of the residents. With the roads flooded, flights and trains cancelled and health risks looming large, Mumbaikers have been advised to stay indoors.

BMC Declares Holiday

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) declared a holiday for all schools and colleges, The Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a tweet.

The BMC also advised all residents “to stay indoors unless there’s any emergency”.

Transport within the city has been hit the worst, causing delays in commuting.

Mumbai Reels Under Torrential Rain

Mumbai residents shared the condition of the city, as Twitter was full of videos of flooded roads and how it has created hazards all over the road.

Actor, Randeep Hooda, tweeted about his Delhi to Mumbai flight getting diverted towards Nagpur as bad weather posed risks for incoming and outgoing flights. He was travelling to Mumbai with his family, some of whom were visiting for the first time.

Mumbaikers Unite To Help

Amongst the chaos that had ensued following the torrential rain, Mumbaikers united in trying to provide help to all those who had been left stranded by the rain.

People were quick to offer shelter and food to people stuck in the rain.

The BMC has also listed the emergency numbers of wards that the residents can call in a case of an emergency.
