Mumbai Mirror interviewed coach Gopichand’s wife, but their choice of headline was questionable, to say the least.

On Monday morning, amidst all the buzz of badminton champion PV Sindhu returning home from the Rio Olympics, Mumbai Mirror jabbed a pin right into all the giddy-hearted enthusiasm with one rather unfortunate headline.

The story about an interview with PVV Lakshmi, Sindhu’s coach’s wife, was headlined: “Sindhu Has What I Didn’t Have – My Husband”.

Pray, what could that mean? Turns out what she really meant was that Sindhu’s lucky to have a coach like Gopichand.

You see, Lakshmi used to be a badminton player herself, and understands what an athlete requires to succeed in the field – a coach as dedicated as her husband.

The misleading headline left Twitterati enraged. Here’s what they had to say.

But actor Ashwin Mushran dropped the truth bomb with this tweet, and I suppose we’d have to agree.

Incidentally, the reporter who did the story also came into controversy when he published an article about Preity Zinta that the actress didn’t take too kindly at all, and threatened to sue him.
