More Reason to Love Cumberbatch Now As He Bats for Equal Pay
Benedict Cumberbatch says he won’t take a role if the female co-actors aren’t paid equal sums.
Benedict Cumberbatch has just given us more reason to love him.
If you were a fan of his dialogue-delivery, his looks, the way he says ‘penguins’, now you’ll love him more!
He said that he’ll only agree to roles which pay the female actors as much as the male actors. Adding to that, he said, “If it’s centred around my name, to get investors, then we can use that attention for a raft of female projects. Half the audience is female.”
According to Cumberbatch, we need the right platform to channel great talent among female actors and the result on screen will be phenomenal. He also said that he won’t be open to taking up “objectifying men-totty” roles.
Even in his production house ‘SunnyMarch’, Benedict and his business partner Adam will be focusing on women-centric characters.
Quite a bold move for a mainstream actor! Imagine, if other male actors follow, gendered pay gaps in Hollywood might just be a thing of the past.
