“Yeh Game Haram Hai”: Mohammad Kaif Trolled for Playing Chess
Mohammad Kaif asked not to play chess because it’s prohibited in Islam.
Former India player Mohammad Kaif would have thought that it will be nice to share a picture of himself and his son playing chess on Facebook, but little did he know that he will get trolled for it.
Kaif was told by some people that chess is haram (an act that is forbidden by the Quran).
The thought of chess being forbidden in Islam started when Saudi Arabia’s grand mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz al-Sheikh said that chess is forbidden in Islam, because it encourages gambling, according to The Guardian.
And intoxicants, gambling, idolatry and divination is banned as per the Quran.
This is not the first instance where sportspersons or celebrities were trolled for no apparent reason. Priyanka Chopra was trolled for not being dressed “appropriately” when she met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Berlin in May.
Irfan Pathan’s wife was asked to cover her arms and Mohammad Shami’s wife was asked to wear a hijab when the cricketers posted pictures with their wives on social media.
