India’s javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia created history on Tuesday night by becoming the first Indian to win two gold medals at the Paralympics. The 36-year-old achieved this feat after registering the world record distance of 62.15m in the event at Rio. He bettered his own world record that he had set during the 2004 Athens Games, where he won his first gold medal.
