The turnout at Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ‘BJP Bhagao, Desh Bachao’ rally in Patna on Sunday may not have been as massive as it appeared in an allegedly altered image posted by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo via his verified Twitter handle.

Lalu made grand claims on Twitter, putting forth a challenge to “Come & Count as much as u can in Gandhi Maidan, Patna” [sic].

About an hour later, ANI posted images allegedly from the Opposition rally in Patna, claiming that the “crowd sizes” were “different” than in the photograph posted by Lalu and the ones shared by the news agency.

Twitter users were quick to call out the discrepancies in the tweeted photo.

Some users pointed out the tell-tale missing trees in the supposedly altered image:

Of course, there was no shortage of instant memes and jokes.

Users were torn between congratulating RJD’s IT team for a job well done, and telling Lalu to hire a better photoshopper.

No one is safe from Twitter’s hawkish eyes.
