What did you have for breakfast? Well, I had a viral, storm-setting, earth-shattering, trending egg.

An innocent egg has fried the brains of many Instagrammers, poaching 26.6 million likes on the social media site. This not-so-humble egg has broken the record set by Kylie Jenner’s picture of her daughter Stormi. Jenner’s post had 18 million likes. But nobody could outshine this ‘EGGcelent’ post.

The account handle called @word_record_egg calls it’s followers the ‘The egg gang'. The photo took less than 10 days to become more popular than Stormi Jenner. Kylie has responded to the egg gang wave by posting a video where she's seen trying to cook what looks like a ‘sunny side up’…on the ROAD.

She captioned the video as “Take that little egg”.

Well, this isn’t the first time someone has tried to mock the nature of the Internet by posting absurd content that ends up going viral. To all ‘influencers’ wondering why an egg ended up getting more likes than their last post: the photo tagged Buzzfeed, The Ellen Show, Jimmy Fallon and ladbible ,which happen to be among world’s most popular websites and accounts.

Egg on Ellen

According to a Buzzfeed report the account is run by a chicken from the British countryside named “Henrietta” and the egg on the account is named “Eugene”. Henrietta got the idea to break Jenner’s Instagram record one Friday night when she was sitting at home. She decided to create the account because she stopped drinking for ‘DRY JANUARY’.

Wow Henrietta, you go girl! If this is how you think when you're sober, I can’t wait to see what you do when January ends.

The million dollar question is what’s next for Eugene the egg? Will it continue to BREAK the Internet or will it CRACK under the social media pressure.

Also what’s next for Instagram? An understated broccoli? A bag of potato chips, maybe even a half eaten gulab jamun or our favourite cutting chai?

Guess we’ll have to wait and see, till then ‘Egg-scuse’ me.
