We are talking of none other than Kal Penn! The Harold & Kumar star tweeted out a post on 6 April, likening the Vice President of the United States Mike Pence to Kantaben from Kal Ho Na Ho. To no one’s surprise, Indians on Twitter were quite stoked by the Bollywood reference. While some applauded the post with much zest, others couldn’t stop gushing about how alien the reference must be for Americans.
Is Penn referring to Kantaben’s take on gay rights? Now Penn did not mention why Pence reminded him of Kantaben, but Twitter users were fast enough to shoot their fair share of guesses.
