Bring out the pakodas and make sure the tea is boiled just right – the rains have arrived in Mumbai. And the city that never sleeps cannot get enough of the rains and revelling in the smell of petrichor.

Here’s how Mumbaikars are celebrating the beginning of monsoons in the city.

Petrichor and its seductions soon found mention on social media.

For some, the rains provided the much needed invisibility blanket allowing people to reflect and spend some much-needed quality time with themselves.

Of course, Twitter joined the party with GIFs aplenty.

And there was some good ol’ nostalgia as well.

But will Mumbai’s monsoons also bring with it waterlogging and clogged drains? Will the city’s infrastructure be able to handle the monsoons this year?

Only time (and subsequent showers) would tell. For now, it is time to snuggle up in a warm blanket, enjoy the rain and maybe, read a good book along the way.
