China’s state news agency Xinhua has released a rather bizarre video on the Doklam standoff. The video, which has been widely denounced as “racist” on social media, shows a turbaned and bearded man with a heavy accent, wielding a pair of scissors.

What is Going on in This Video?

Titled ‘7 Sins of India: It’s time for India to confess its seven sins’, the video accuses India of having committed the following sins: trespassing, breaching a bilateral convention, quashing international law, confusing right and wrong, victim-blaming, “hijacking a small neighbour,” and consciously standing by a mistake.

In a dig at India’s stance on the standoff, the anchor says:

China has realised it is impossible to wake a guy who is pretending to asleep.

The “Indian” guy in the video then goes on to say: “Nobody is blaming me because I am asleep”.
