How excited should one be to see cabin crew uniforms? Very, especially if they are being labelled haute couture.
This is what the cabin crew of China's Hainan Airlines will wear to work, courtesy fashion designer Laurence Xu.
As if to add more weight to the sartorial credentials of the uniform – it was unveiled at the holiest of all fashion places – the Paris Couture Week.
The stand-up-collar, the print (inspired by cloud drawings, and a Chinese mythical bird), and the silhouette (Google Cheongsam, a traditional Chinese dress) are all essentially inspired by Chinese culture. But the overall look is cosmopolitan. The uniforms had everyone sit up and take note.
