The Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived in India on 24 January. The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE armed forces, will be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day parade.

In honour of Republic Day, the Burj Khalifa has been illuminated in the colours of the Indian national flag. At almost 830 metres, the Burj Khalifa, in Downtown Dubai, is the tallest free-standing structure in the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the UAE leader at the airport yesterday.

The UAE and India are expected to sign about 16 pacts during the Sheikh’s visit. The two countries are also expected to reach agreements for cooperation in the fields of defence, security, counter terrorism and intelligence sharing.
