The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) introduced new parking norms in Mumbai to curb illegal parking in the city. The newly issued fines range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 23,000 and will be applied near public parking lots (PPL).

“For four wheelers and heavy vehicles, the fine will be Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively,” a civic official was quoted as saying in a report by The Indian Express.

Many Mumbaikars took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the new regulations.
