At the 8th BRICS summit held in Goa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi obliquely referred to Pakistan as the "mothership" of terrorism.

In response to the comment, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal took to Twitter to take a dig at BJP, calling it the "mothership of communal fasad" (communal strife).

Without naming Pakistan, Modi said the country not only nurtures terror but also harbours a mindset which India condemns.

He urged BRICS members to step up practical cooperation against terrorism.
