King Edward VI ascended to the throne at nine years of age. However, since he was too young at that time a Regency Council was set up to act on his behalf until he reached the age of maturity. However, even during this phase most of the policies were implemented after his approval. Edward VI's is the first king of England to be brought up as a protestant.

It was under him that the Book of Common Prayer, The Ordinal of 150 and Cranmer's Forty-two Articles were introduced, all of which formed the basis of the practices of English Protestant Church.

Ralph Vaughan Williams

Ralph Vaughan Williams

Ralph Vaughan Williams was an English composer, strongly influenced by Tudor music and the English folk-song. His music marked a decisive change in British music from the German-dominated style prevalent in the British music scene of the 19th century. Among the most famous of his concert works are Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and The Lark Ascending. His ballet Job: A Masque for Dancing also garnered tremendous acclaim. Vaughan Williams volunteered for military service on the outbreak of the First World War, even though he was forty two years old at that time.

The war went on to be of significant emotional consequence to him for he lost many comrades and friends. The continual noise of guns damaged his hearing, and made him deaf in his later years.
