Ramdev Plans to Launch ‘Desi Jeans’, Twitter Has a Field Day

Will the ‘Sanskari jeans’ be pre-washed in ‘gau mutra’?

If you thought that Baba Ramdev was all set to take over the processed food market, you’re in for a surprise. In a recent report in The Telegraph, Ramdev said that he is gearing up to launch an apparel brand, Paridhaan, which will produce jeans and office wear.

The idea to start an apparel brand came to Ramdev when some of his followers asked him for Patanjali yoga wear. He then decided to create a whole range of clothing.

We will make men’s and women’s wear, not just traditional Indian clothing. We will also make modern wear like jeans, for example. Just because I am a baba does not mean we cannot marry modernity with spirituality. We can make, let’s say, <em>desi</em> jeans.

Naturally, Twitter jumped on desi jeans with glee. While some surmised that the jeans would be washed in ‘gau murta’, others went ahead and designed the ‘swadeshi jeans’ for Baba Ramdev.
