Japanese Man Dies Of Cocaine Overdose While Smuggling Drugs
A Japanese man dies mid-flight after swallowing 246 packets of cocaine. Another case of smuggling drugs.
Colombia, already infamous historically for local drug cartels, has given rise to another very disturbing case where a human ‘mule’ lost his life in the illegal smuggling of drugs. In this particular case, a Japanese man was carrying in his body, cocaine parcelled in 246 small packets, on an airborne journey from Bogota to Tokyo. Reportedly, the flight attendant noticed the man having seizures and asked for an emergency landing in Hermosillo, Sonora.
The 42-year-old man, identified as Udo N, died due to a drug overdose as he developed a condition called cerebral edema, according to BBC. The autopsy revealed that he was carrying packets of cocaine in his stomach and intestine. Each of the packets measured 1 cm by 2.5 cm.
The man started having convulsions during the flight’s stop-off at Mexico City from where the Aeromexico flight that was carrying 198 more passengers continued its journey.
Using human body as a means to smuggle drugs has emerged as a method for the said illegal activity and its perils evidently from the given case are very grave.
