If you love makeup, you probably adore your makeup brushes, right?

I bet you have different types of brushes too. The eyeliner-brush, the blush-brush, the contouring-brush, the sculpting-brush...we can go on and on!

When you buy a new brush, it feels like soft cat hair on your skin.

You swipe it on your cheeks...once, twice, thrice and you love it!

But as time goes by, the brush starts to feel coarse and unpleasant on your skin since product, dust and sebum accumulate on it with regular use.

(PS: Hope you’re not sharing your makeup brush with anyone else!)

No way!

Why Should You Bother?

1)Breakouts: It’s important to clean your brushes for various reasons. One of them being...breakouts! Yes, if you have been noticing too many breakouts/pimples on your skin, blame your dirty makeup brushes, queen.

Imagine a brush that’s been collecting everything from your face like dirt, oil and dead skin cells! Then you go and use it on your face. Recipe for disaster, innit?
Don’t pop!

2) Better Application: Aye, need we say more? Do you want to spend all the money you earn on expensive makeup brushes? With regular usage, brushes collect product, which means you’re piling on more product on your face which is bound to give you a cakey makeup finish.

Thank me later, you guys!

How Can I Clean Brushes on a Budget?

We know there are very few brush-cleaners available in the market, especially for those on a budget. But that’s no reason to not clean up. One of the easiest things to do is use a gentle face wash and clean using a silicon makeup brush cleaner.

A silicon makeup brush-cleaner.

A brush cleaner like this is your cheapest and best option for thorough cleaning. If you’re feeling lazy and you don’t wish to buy any product from the market, just use your palm!

All you need to do is, apply some facial cleanser on your palm, wet the bristles of your brush and gently clean the brush by moving it in circular motions.

Once you’re done with that, rinse the bristles and make sure there’s no soap left.

Gently dry out excess water with a towel.

The next step is CRUCIAL.

When leaving your wet brushes out to dry, make sure you store them upside-down. This will prevent the water from spoiling the glue that holds the bristles together.

Keep ‘em down!

Do not blow dry or flat iron your brushes AT ALL.

With these tips, we hope we’ve made it easier for you to clean those cuties. If you want any advice for other makeup related stuff, do comment and tell us!
