Indians are the masters of running. You think people from other countries would run with as much gusto as we do?
But this weekend is special, with multiple marathons taking place in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Find out where you can join in the fun (with your sneakers, of course!)
Bengaluru is organising the 11th edition of its annual midnight marathon on 16 December.
It is a 10K run, and starts from five in the evening and goes on well into the night. No sweat, since the weather won’t be ‘sun-tillating.’
Scores: Bengaluru -1. Delhi -0.
The action’s not only limited to Bengaluru. On 17 December, a half-marathon is also being organised in Mumbai by The Mile Runners India.
Kolkata is taking the running game a notch higher, by organising the premier 25K run on the same day. With Tata Steel as the main organiser, this one is special as it is the only international run in East India.
Delhi, meanwhile, will be running for a good cause.
Many, many laadlis are expected to take part in the run.
Now for some holiday cheer in the city of Bengaluru.
What’s more? You can be a Secret Santa for someone and help underprivileged children by running this marathon through Make A Wish Foundation.
Yeh toh hona tha, since Indians love to run. Don’t believe us?
When not running 10Ks, we’re running to work. Or away from shaadis and commitment.
Desi married men, on the other hand, are the ustaads of running away from domestic load sharing.
But besides the loosely translated meanings, the third week of December comes packed with lots of literal running action.
Tighten your running shoes, everybody. And get, set and go!
