An Australian advertisement about a charpai has gone viral. It seems that age-old desi items are a hit with foreigners. This advertisement has amazed many people, not because of the bed’s popularity, but its price. Its being sold for around $990, which comes to around Rs 50,000.

The detailed ad claims that this bed is “extremely comfortable” and can be customized as per the buyers request. Made from maple timber with strong mortise and tenon joints, the charpoy is said to have “hand-woven bedding” using manila rope. Considering the price tag, one would expect it to be hand-woven manila rope and gold!

The ad tries to sell the bed in a very sophisticated way, but Indians on the internet are having a blast at how ludicrous it sounds! Check out a few of the reactions.
